Springfield is located on Manson Pike, just west of the I-24 and Medical Center Parkway.
Springfield was built in 1805 by Gen. John Hunter Smith of Revolutionary War fame.
During the Civil War, Federal soldiers were quartered in the west side of the home while at the same time a wounded Confederate soldier was concealed on the east side!
