History Break “Eufaula Light Artillery” – Stones River National Battlefield

The Eufaula Alabama Light Artillery (CSA) was organized on February 26, 1862.  Lieutenant W. A. McDuffie commanded the four guns of the Eufaula Light Artillery.

This living history video, part of the Chickamauga Connections to the Battle of Stones River, includes a short report written by McDuffie on Dec. 31, 1862.  McDuffie served under Brigadier General James E. Rains and Col. R. B. Vance of the Second Brigade of Maj. Gen. J.P. McCown’s and later Maj. Gen. Carter L. Stevenson’s Division.

By Jan. 10, 1863, the Eufaula Battery, was headquartered with the Army of Tennessee in Shelbyville, Tenn. after withdrawing from Murfreesboro.
