The billboard reads ‘Bill Will Build Better Roads’; W.H. ‘Bill’ Wilson.  Bill Wilson was Sheriff Wilson in 1968, then decided to run for Road Superintendent.

Mr. Wilson edged out incumbent Edwin Todd 5,715 to 5,366 in the May 12, 1968 Democratic primary.  11,144 Rutherford Countians voted in the Democratic primary – 53% of the registered voters of Rutherford

Mr. Wilson was unopposed in the August general election.  There was no Republican opponent.
