Celebrate history Southern style

Be sure to mark your calendars for an event heralding the arrival of warmer temperatures and gorgeous flowers in bloom for the annual Oaklands’ Spring Party, Sunday Supper Southern Style.

You won’t want to miss this year’s event at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Oaklands Historic House Museum, located in the heart of historic downtown Murfreesboro.

The Oaklands Association is a nonprofit educational organization that promotes the history of Murfreesboro and its people.

Guests will enjoy the bounty of the season from exquisite flowers, live music and libations to a table replete with delicious recipes from the Oaklands cookbook, “Dining with Oaklands.”

The evening’s menu will include hors d’oeuvres of bacon and tomato tarts, olive and crème cheese roll with nuts as well as cucumber sandwiches. The entree will include poppy seed chicken divine served with spinach and artichoke delight, as well as strawberry salad and homemade rolls. Delicious chocolate raspberry bars and lemon cookies will be served for dessert.

Tickets are $75 and include valet parking.
