Easter Services in the Streets!

Frank Caperton, Rutherford County Historical Society

First Presbyterian Church held an Easter service in the streets on the corner of North Spring and East College at some point in the late 1980s or early 1990s.

The three story building in the upper left hand corner of this pic is the old Masonic Building once located at 109 North Spring Street.  The vacant lot immediately to the right of the Masonic Lodge was one the Elk’s Lodge, razed October, 1986.

Who recalls the time when First Presbyterian Church held Easter services in the streets on the corner of North Spring and East College?

Who remembers the red light at that intersection?

Who remembers the old Elks Lodge razed in 1986?

And finally, who can remember when the old Masonic Building,m 109 North Spring Street, was razed?
