Vandals struck Greenland Cemetery again.

Over the weekend someone entered the cemetery on Greenland Drive and pushed approximately 25 headstones off their foundations, causing thousands of dollars in damage, Superintendent James Russell reported to the Murfreesboro Police Department.

“A special watch was placed on the cemetery,” MPD Officer Matthew Roe reported.

In August 2009, vandals spray painted words and drew vulgar pictures on many tombstones. Staff members cleaned up some of the vulgar paintings. Russell reported the vandals sprayed words on the tombstones and sprayed a man’s penis and a stick figure with a penis on an obelisk.
