The old Tipperary School (1915-1925) was located south of Waldron Road, near Rock Springs (LaVergne) The school was first named The Gambill School in honor of School Director Charles H. Gambill. When the song “It’s a Long Way to Tipperary” became popular, school boys unofficially called their schoolhouse ‘Tipperary’. Today this structure is one of the centerpieces at Murfreesborough’s Historic Cannonsburgh Village, aka ‘The Chapel’.
