One of the largest milk plants in the southeastern United States was the Carnation Milk plant.
A postcard featuring the Carnation Milk plant. The business cost $500,000 to build, and the capacity of the operation was 200,000 pounds of milk per day. The Carnation plant paid out over $1 million per year to local dairy producers. (thank you Bill Jakes Murfreesboro Postcards book).
The Captain William Lytle home was razed in 1927 to make room for the Carnation Plant .

Rutherford County hosted a large parade to celebrate the addition of the Carnation plant to our economy.
