Roger Clark Maples, 66, passed away Sunday night, May 10, 2009 at his home.
Clark was born on April 11, 1943, in Rutherford County, Tennessee, where he lived his entire life.
He was a graduate of Central High School and MTSU. He was the owner of Clark Maples Realty & Auction Company. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Murfreesboro Bank and Trust Company, now Sun Trust Bank; served as President of the Board of Realtors; served as a member of the Rutherford Hospital Board, now Middle Tennessee Medical Center; member of the Board of Directors of Evergreen Cemetery, President of the Blue Raider Club, Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce; and Director of the Rotary Club. He was also a founding Director and former Chairman of the Christy-Houston Foundation. He was inducted into the MTSU Blue Raider Hall of Fame in 2003 for football. He was a member and Elder of Mt. Tabor Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Maples was preceded in death by his parents Broadus and Marie Couch Maples. He is survived by daughters Summer (Chris) Humphries, and Betsy (Carl) Taylor both of Murfreesboro, and a brother Evans (Alice) Maples. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ethan and Caroline Humphries, Sonya (Matt) Taylor Kennedy, Carla Taylor, and Sara Clarke Mason all of Murfreesboro.
Services will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at his farm 5809 Manchester Highway, Murfreesboro. Rev. Lyon Walkup and Rev. Brent Wills will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be at today from 4-8 p.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.

Osborne, Louis Owen, Jerry Osborne, Ewing Smith, John Stanford, Jerry Todd, Frank Warlick, Wayne Westmoreland, Tom Worthington, Staff at Clark Maples Realty & Auction, retired and current members of the Christy Houston Foundation. Memorials may be made to Mt. Tabor Cumberland Presbyterian Church or Caris Hospice.
