KNIGHT SCHOOL 1893- was on the southwest corner of the intersection of Barfield Road and the Shelbyville Highway. Because of the interest that James M. Knight had “in the education of the white children of his neighborhood,” he sold one on acre for one dollar for as long as there was a school. The deed is dated October 21, 1893.
Sally Miller was a teacher about 1900.
Students under Sally Miller were Tom. M. Baskin and Mary Ada Woodruff, father and mother of Robert W. Baskin. Family names of, other students were Baskin, Woodruff, De Jarnette, Miller, Gamewill. “Pluck” Miller was a student there.
The date of the closing of the school is not known.
