Earlier this month, Marty Luffman was named official Smyrna historian during a ceremony attended by Governor Bill Haslam, Smyrna Mayor Mary Esther Reed, Councilwoman Lori North, County Commissioner Joe Gourley, along with several other local officials and guests.
In addition, Mr. Luffman was presented with an official state proclamation from the House of Representatives by State Representative Mike Sparks (R-Smyrna) and State Representative Dawn White (R-Murfreesboro).
Beginning his career giving tours at the Grand Ole Opry, Mr. Luffman has shared his knowledge of state and local history to thousands of elected officials, school groups, friends, family, and major publications over the years.
“Marty Luffman has been very involved in the community throughout the years, going back as far as when I was in grade school. I appreciate his knowledge and involvement within the community and his love for history. He is a true asset to our community and our state.”
