Nollie Helen Jenne died on Tuesday, August 4. She was born January 5, 1942 in Knoxville, Tennessee and was the daughter of the late Everett and Madge Mealer Sharp.
She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-laws: Michael and his wife Nan, Matthew and his wife Erin all of Cleveland, and four grandchildren Ashton, Riley, Will and Jake Jenne all of Cleveland.
Her father, Mr. Everett Sharp, was a scientist with The Manhattan Project during WWII. Nollie grew up in Oak Ridge in the midst of major 20th century history -making times. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Home Economics degree from The University of Tennessee in 1964. She later graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a Masters in Education in 1982.
Nollie and her two sons moved to Murfreesboro in 1976. She taught in The Family and Consumer Science Dept. at Oakland High School from 1979 until 2002 when she retired. She sponsored the Future Homemakers of America. She was a dedicated teacher and was loved by her students. Very active in many organizations over the years, Nollie was a member of The Col. Hardy Murfree Chapter of The Daughters of the American Revolution in which she served in many leadership roles. Also she was a member of The Daughters of 1812, Brigadier General John Coffee Chapter. She served as representative for First Presbyterian Church for Adventures in Learning for over ten years. A member of The Sympathy Guild, Nollie served as secretary. In 2008 through 2010, she was president of The Woman’s Club of Murfreesboro.
A member of First Presbyterian Church, Murfreesboro, TN, she served as secretary of Presbyterian Women, a member of The Care Team, and served on the Bicentennial Committee in 2011-2012.
Visitation will be Friday from 10:00am until time of service at 12:00noon at First Presbyterian Church in Murfreesboro, Tennessee with Reverend Dr. John Hinkle, Jr. and Reverend Bobby Harding officiating. Interment will be Monday at 3:00pm eastern time at Anderson County Memorial Gardens in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Woodfin Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
