READYVILLE SCHOOL 1902 or 1903-1919 was located on the east side of Porterfield Road near its intersection with the Woodbury Road. Although in Cannon County, the school was attended also by Rutherford County students.
The school was a frame building of three or four rooms with an L-shaped porch.
Among the teachers were Mr. Glenn McBroom, about 95 years of age in 1984, who taught in about 1908 and again about 1914; Principal George W. Hollandsworth, about 1910-1912; Principal Mary Hall, two different times, about 1916 and 1918; and Principal Mr. Lemuel Willard after 1918.
Iva Hogwood taught music and Mrs. Andy Wharton Macon was an
elementary teacher.
Classes were for grades 1-8.
The school was moved to the present Highway 70S.
