Smyrna’s smart new restaurant with the intriguing name ‘The Woodshed’ will be formally opened to the public on Saturday and Sunday. Restaurant hours are 7AM till 10PM.
A hint as to what the visitor may expect of the unusual interior decor of the restaurant is evidenced in the cedar ‘hitching posts’ surrounding the building.
The restaurant contains three dining areas, all paneled in cedar slabs, with ‘wainscoting’ of cedar log ends varying in diameter from five to twelve inches.
The Woodshed is actually two restaurants in one, the main entrance leading into the family dining area, and a side entrance leading into the Hay Baler Room, set aside for adult dining.
The Smoke House, the private dining room, will accomodate approximately 35 persons. This area is gabled in cedar slabs and illuminated by overhead indirect lighting and electrified coal oil lanterns. Wagon wheel fixtures are featured in the Hay Baler and family dining rooms.
Major James F. Walls (ret.) and Major William M. Beasley (ret.), owner-operators of The Woodshed designed and executed the restaurant decor. Majors Walls and Beasley also own and operate the Omni Hut which attracts diners from the entire middle Tennessee area.
