My father played basketball for Kittrell High School as shown in this 1948 photo.

Metal detector enthusiast Wayne Reed is behind the ball and my father – Floyd Wilson – is to the right of him. Coach Jack Jarrett is top left.

Dad told a funny story of how Coach Jarrett used to yell at him by saying “Wilson come here son and take a seat”. Coach Jarrett would go on to say “Wilson you are not worth a damn” and how Coach Jarrett would think for a moment then say “No Wilson, I take that back you aren’t worth half a damn”.

My dad used to crack us up telling us that story. Maybe that’s where I get my low self esteem.
