1948 Kittrell High School Basketball Team

My father played basketball for Kittrell High School as shown in this 1948 photo.

Metal detector enthusiast Wayne Reed is behind the ball and my father – Floyd Wilson – is to the right of him. Coach Jack Jarrett is top left.

Dad told a funny story of how Coach Jarrett used to yell at him by saying “Wilson come here son and take a seat”. Coach Jarrett would go on to say “Wilson you are not worth a damn” and how Coach Jarrett would think for a moment then say “No Wilson, I take that back you aren’t worth half a damn”.

My dad used to crack us up telling us that story. Maybe that’s where I get my low self esteem.
