May 15, 2019, WGNS Radio

This coming Sunday (5/19/2019) is a day that will long be remembered by the congregation at Bradley Creek Baptist Church in the Lascassas community.

That flock celebrates a major milestone, a special 1:00 o’clock afternoon service is planned to celebrate their bicentennial. Their historic structure at 8505 Bradley Creek Road, and the public is encouraged to attend.

During the program a letter from President Donald Trump will be presented, along with a letter from Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, and a proclamation from Rutherford County Mayor Bill Ketron will be shared.

The celebration also includes talks from other individuals who are important to the history of Bradley Creek Baptist Church.

Refreshments in the church’s Fellowship Hall will follow the service.

It’s refreshing to see a quaint country church that is filled with history and challenge. As you round the curve on Bradley Creek Road you see the picturesque church and steeple, looking almost like a Norman Rockwell painting. And directly across the street, is the church’s cemetery.

Two centuries have passed, and the church has weathered such storms as the fire of 1833, the Civil War, World War I, The Great Depression, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Gulf War, 9/11, and the Iraq War.

The church was organized and constituted on May 19, 1819 as the Philadelphia Baptist Church.

Again, the public is invited to the 200th Anniversary Celebration of Bradley Creek Baptist Church at 8505 Bradley Creek Road in Lascassas at 1:00PM this coming Sunday afternoon, May 19, 2019.
